| Summer Program for Special Children |
| |
| In 1989 the parents and teachers of Regina's multiply handicapped
children realized there was a need for recreational, community based summer
programming. They witnessed firsthand that the progress each of these children
accomplished throughout the school year began to deteriorate without access to
continued stimulation over the summer break. The parents found that the summer
months were a very stressful time with little or no relief from the daily care
of their special needs children. The success of the Summer Program, to say the
least, has been overwhelming, proving beneficial not only to the children, but
to the parents, to the counsellors who help the campers enjoy their summers,
and to the community as a whole. |
